Richie Rockwell - President
The oil and gas business has been a part of Richie his entire life. His father was a petroleum engineer and he did everything he could not to be in the oil business, but it sucked him back in.
Richie is a graduate of Texas A&M university having graduated in 2004. He took a year or so off from life and held a few positions in St Thomas and St John USVI. After sebatacle Richie, and his wife Becky, moved back to the states where he pursued a career in finance and Real Estate. Richie worked for many large financial institutions running default portfolios and secondary market Asset recovery. By a stroke of luck, and/or force, Richie found himself back into the oil business working for a Texas based independent on the financial side of the business. After many years Richie leaned hard on his fathers background and began operating shallow oil and gas wells in the Ozona Texas area. In 2015 Richie acquired a controlling stake in a P&A company in Wichita Falls Texas. He utilized the skills he learned to extend his operations in Ozona by creating Bonfire P&A and offering full service plugging opportunities to both individual operators and the Texas Railroad Commission.

Richie has built Bonfire from the ground by adhering to one rule, treat others as you would want to be treated. Viewing the companies employees, customers and vendors through this lense, he has been able to build and grow a very successful business providing essential services for oil and Gas Operators.

Don Rockwell - Petroleum Engineer - Plugging Operations Mgr.
With over 40 years of oil and gas operating experience, Don has amassed a wealth of industry knowledge. He began his career with Getty Oil Company and over the years has served as a consultant and expert with internationally-recognized oil companies including Swift and Texaco. He has worked across 15 different locations in the United States and has valuable on-site exploration and production (E&P) experience in the Middle East and Euro Asia regions.
This extensive background and global exposure make him a highly experienced and versatile professional for Bonfires business goals. With his deep expertise in drilling and production, field work, reservoir engineering, research and overall engineering management, our petroleum engineer is a highly sought-after resource for Bonfire Operating and P&A customers.
He holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University.
Jonathan Hatfield-Chief Operating Officer
Plugging and Pipe Sales
Jonathan joined Bonfire Energy in 2019 as Operations Manager and you will find him on location to assist and be the point-of-contact representative for Bonfire Energy companies. He manages business relationships and compliance with The Railroad Commission of Texas, the Texas Department Of Transportation, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). Jonathan is depended upon to ensure that the company operates in accordance with industry regulations. He works closely with Bonfire P&A customers to manage bids, W-3A Notice of Intention to Plug and Abandon filings, H15, and all other P&A requirements.
His impressive career spans over 25 years and includes nearly a decade in oil and gas sales compliance. Jonathan is a graduate of The University of North Texas. Born and raised in Texas, he enjoys spending time with his wife, traveling, golfing, and watching English Premier matches.
Plugging Operations Manager
Ozona, Tx
Phillip is a 29-year veteran of the oil and gas industry, starting in 1994 as a driller with Wes-Tex Drilling Company. He has held numerous air and fluid drilling positions and worked on multiple rigs throughout his impressive career in the oil field. Phillip has worked for companies including Nabors Drilling, Trinidad Drilling, Heartland Drilling, and J Cleo Thompson Petroleum. Phillip worked as an operator for five years and achieved certifications for hydrogen equipment and surface stack blowout prevention equipment (BOP). He also completed a comprehensive 24/7 OSHA-approved safety prevention class. His proficiency in being bilingual makes him a valuable member of the Bonfire P&A family.
As our Operations Supervisor, Phillip takes an active role in training and supervising team members while sharing his knowledge and experience with others.
Plugging Operations Manager

David has served the majority of his life in the Oilfield on rigs and on the service side of the industry. David brings a wealth of knowledge to the Bonfire team in downhole recognition as well as in plugging management and operational awareness. David has successfully managed Rig crews and teams for the better part of 30 years and is utilizing his knowledge and ability to assist Bonfire crews in being the most efficient crews in the industry.
